Advantages of Technology in Mathematics

Mathematics has many advantages in technology because it is
very useful for anyone. There is calculator and it is very helpful for older
people to budget their bills. For some students can use calculator to figure
out the answer for math problem. The calculator has algebra system, interactive
geometry, and many more Technology is an essential tool for learning
mathematic. The students have many benefits from learning math in technology.
There are so many apps that can teach the students.

Disadvantages of Technology in Mathematics

There are some disadvantages of technology in Mathematics.
Some students might use calculator more often than they should. When they are
learning addition or subtract, it is important for them to use their head to
answer before they can move up to the next level. Some apps math has so many
graphic and it is easily distract for the students. Although it is fun for
students to learn math through technology, but it may be too expensive for all
students to use. 

There are so any great apps for ipad or for parents to use.

Math Ref has calculation in math, physics, chemistry, and many more.

Motion Math is great for children to play with number.

Wolfram Alpha has math in Elementary.

Quick Graph has very powerful and high quality calculator.

Sky Number is best rated math game.

Brain Tuner is for all ages.

iFormulas is helping people to remember the formulas.

The Math Master is one of neat because it can help the student to get help with their math.

There are so many apps to chose and many apps are great to use in the classroom.

Module 5: Flipchart of Addition

Promethean has many varieties of resources for teachers to use and very friendly use for the students to learn. There is so many flipchart to select, however, I chose addition and it has very colorful and fun activity for the kids. Properties of Addition is the one that I chose because it looks fun to learn for the students. It require for you to have the right kind of software before you can download any flipchart you want. The amazing part about it is free to download. ActiveInsipre is great hardware to use. There is hardware to use and very easy to use for the class.

Using technology on problem solving through flipchart is one of the best ability to learn in the classroom. It gives teacher to see what the students’ comprehension. Teacher could show what to do to all the students. Promethean Planet has so many activities and in my own opinion it is important to involve students at the same time to learn. Flipchart is remarkable for technology integration. Not only it is great for integration with students, individual activities, and many more but also for the teachers to create their own flipchart to match the need for the classroom.  Promethean Planet provides a great software support tools. If teachers have any question or concern, there are always support tools to find what they want. I am so glad to learn about flipchart because I’ll be using this a lot in my classroom.

Wiki

Wiki is a site where teacher could use in the classroom with students’ involve. It is useful for the teacher to put students in a group and they can discuss through Wikispaces.

http://whos.amung.us/ is a great widget. Who’s among us is showing us who visit me and where they are. I think it is great for students to create their own blog and see how many people have read and where they come from.

http://www.educationatlas.com/dict/free-online-dictionary.html is a great widget. It is helpful when students do not know what the word means. This widget is giving the students a quick access to their necessary. It has both of dictionary and thesaurus tool which it also great.

Web-based lesson

I chose electronic field trip. It is fills classroom screen with visual images of educational value. It helped when teacher wanted to show the students the visual of the animals, states, or many things. It is great for visual aid students. It helped students to experience the realistic of the world and what teacher is trying to show.

There are couples of domain designator. For example if you see .gov, then you will know it is government sites. If the site has .edu, and you will know it is education.  It is important to look at the address line and understand where it is coming from and what it is about. You can reply more on information that is published by the source.

Search Engines:

There are many varieties of search engines on Internet. It can be a remarkable tool for students. Most popular is www.google.com, www.yahoo.com, and many more that is very easy to type and find what you are looking for. The students can go to website that has index searches. If I want to show something to the students, I will just type and it will gives me different kind of sites that fit what I want to show the students.

http://www.teachwithme.com is one of my favorites because it has so many ideas for me to teach in classroom. It has so many activities that children will enjoy and fun way to learn. It is enjoyable and easy to follow. All subjects have different kind of themes for activities.

www.readwritethink.com is great website for the students who needs a visual aid for reading. I am a Deaf Education Major and I find it very visual for deaf students. The students can work in the group and discuss about what they have read. I think it is very helpful for them to have story map and have a better understanding at reading.

Hypermedia products are the great resources for teachers, parents, and students as well. As of today, we, all people, are depending on technology to discovery what we need in our lives or any information that we would like to know. Collections of development resources are great for the teacher to use. All teachers in the United States can share their concepts of method to use in the classroom and it would be useful for other teachers. Internet has many things include clip art, photos, fonts, animations, and many more for the teachers to use in the classroom that will be beneficial for the students who require a lot of visual aid. I would use in my classroom for behavior charts, worksheets, and idea of activities, and many more. Teacher's classroom is great site Teacher's classroomto get ideas for the classroom. 

Production Software:

Most schools have certain kind of software for the students to use. Star is one of examples; it is great for students to see which levels of reading they are.  The iPad and iPod have a lot of apps for teachers to download. This video provides a lot of links for the students to practice their skills include how to create your own animated videos. The students can practice on their weakness on the computer, iPad, or iPod. I could use many links and animated in the classroom for the students to learn any subjects.

Word Processing Software

Word processing is a great beneficial in the classroom. It is one of the most common for teachers to use. It has a lot variety of template. To use word processing reduce a lot of time for teacher to provide in the classroom, included bookmark, lesson plans, letters to students and parents, schedule, assignment, and many more that relate to the classroom and education.

Spreadsheet Software

Spreadsheet is sort of complicated if you are new to it. It is very helpful for the teachers to use because you could add address, grades, math and many more to help teachers organize, which I think that is important.  Spreadsheet has many ways to organize with anything and include numerals. Teachers can use spreadsheet for math to help students who need visual aids. Visual aids are very significant to me.

Presentation Software

Presentation is the most useful in the classroom. It is easier to teacher to create and work with the students at the same time. It helps students to see and work through.  Presentation software can add image on the slides to help the students to see what teacher means. Teachers can insert many things included images, movies, charts, and many more for visual aids students.

Classroom Use

I like all three basic software. I think they all are extremely beneficial for me to use in the classroom. It is kind of difficult for me to choice the finest. If I have to, I would select word processing software because it has many templates for me to create in the classroom. Being a deaf person, I know how important to have visual aids in the classroom. I would be able to use word processing to provide that. From what I have seen, word processing will give me the ability to help students to comprehension the concept of what I am teaching. It is not just benefit for me, but it is for the students and parents as well.

My name is Margie Hutto. I am from south Alabama. I just recently moved to Montevallo, Alabama. So far, I am loving this town. I am deaf and I am senior at University of Montevallo. My major is Deaf Education and be able to help deaf kids is one of my passion. I have two awesome children and they are hearing.
